Damn if I was finished with my project I would be there today . Little spot off the entrance road to lock and dam 5 on Bossier side I checked out yesterday, looked pretty decent and not terribly hard to get to.

On Google it is the body of water directly below the 2 well pads, and above the lock. On the entrance road, in the sharp left hand turn, you can park and go in from trail.

Go ahead man. I was checking it out for duck hunting. I might fish it soon, should be good, I figure most people bank and not really any access for full size boats. There will probably be a few people fishing from the bank closest to the road, but you can just go in through the trail, launch and them.

You think that's private out there?

It os probably red river waterway land, or whatever that entity is called. Pretty sure its open to public. Ive launched out of bishops point several times to kayak fish. The river is so slow down there I have never had a problem fishing.

I have been told it is not private, just the old river channel from back before the lock was built.
The guy that out me on to it has been hunting out there for a while.

Standing at the edge of the water at the end of the trail, right by the road.

Thats the launch into pool 5 just north of the locks. Turn left right before the locks and follow the road all the way to the launch.

That old oxbow/bar pit is probably pretty weedy if I remember right. Try something like a fluke or trick worm in watermelon red.

whatever is in the water down there has probably never seen anything besides a nightcrawler, I was thinking of throwing a gold or silver spoon in there and seeing what comes up with it.

I just rode the wife and baby through Bickham Dickson. Only one boat launched...

Lots of grey ducks.

Out of the South about 10 mph.

Light chop, but still kayakable.

ETA: The North finger you drive down when you first pull in was calm looking, but the middle wide finger by the launch had the chop.
