White perch. Sac-au-lait. Crappie.

Particularly white ones, in a pond that's 7 acres. Long story short, I want to put as much of a dent in them as I can. I know the basics and have a box of tackle for them I bought for a trip awhile back. What I don't know is what times of the year are best and what works better in a pond.

I caught 4 over the weekend on jigs, all in the 14" range, will be going back with minnows. The fish I caught were suspended in the deeper part. Should I troll? Sink a brush pile to gather them up? When are they gonna move shallow and how do I target them there? I don't care about specifically targeting bigger fish, this is all out war. TIA

I knew that was coming

I honestly have no idea how many are in there, after four years of bass fishing the place I just caught the first one this past weekend. From what I've read, if you have bigger ones, then you don't have a bunch, and I'm hoping that's the case.

Typically that is correct in a small pond but at 7 acres you could have some nice Myers and size.

This time of year they will be deep. Will get shallow in spring and fall.

Shiners seem to work most consistently, but jigs can out catch them 10 fold when they are on. Jigs to try:
bobby
monkey milk, Cajun cricket, black and chartuse.
Tube jigs: black chartreuse, blue and white.
Marabou jigs: black and chartreuse, white

Remember with jigs, the lighter the line class, the better they move and more you catch.

This should get you started. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks, is it really just mess around with depth and color until you find what works best? These fish seemed a bit spread out, so it was tough to nail down a pattern. I say they were suspended because I believe I marked them on the fish finder, at about 8 ft, but all four fish were caught at different depths.

Is it worth it to sink a brush pile in a pond to try and get them concentrated?

Will be in the deeper part of the lake but sometimes they will suspend a foot deep (still in middle of lake)

Get you a shiner pole with a cork. Cast out and let it sit. While you let it sit have another pole with a Bobby garland jig under a cork and twitch it every two seconds and reel it in. Find the depth they are at. Put a Berkeley crappie nibble on the hook of the jig.

Also throw a small beetle spin or road runner and work it slowly as they are kinda lethargic in this hot weather

This was phase two, just pick a depth?

This is how I caught the four, more or less. A couple came just drifting on a tight line.

How deep is the pond?

It's better to fish above them than below. I would rig multiple hooks about 2 feet apart until you find a pattern.

Don't matter, it's an aluminum boat, I just pull the plug and hose it out

about 2 acres of it range from 12-14ft, I believe I was jigging at about 6 ft when I hooked them but it was hard to tell with the wind and us using light jigs

This will work, or lead nets. If you use the nets you won't have to stay quite as closeby.
