I know, it is late as shite in the year and I need to ask myself "why is this blind even available?" But I'm god damned tired of hunting public and it kind of is what it is at this point. Also, I honestly wouldn't know where to start looking beyond the internet.

As for my question:

Ok, so the farm has a dozen or so fields, each with a pit in it (I'd say ~40 acre fields). The available pit/pits is in one of several fields that has no rice stubble. It has natural vegetation and I guess old?rice mixed in. Basically it was not farmed this year?

About 1/2 of the fields are like this. The other 1/2 are farmed rice stubble.

What are you rice field hunters thoughts on this setup? Anyone know what type natural vegetation this is? Is this rice?

I'm worried I'm going to just sit and watch ducks flood into the rice stubble, while I watch flooded weeds grow?

I have absolutely 0 experience field hunting. All my ducks have been killed in the marsh or in the woods.

I've seen ducks pour into natural fields that get flooded. Not saying yours will, but I have seen it.

Where is the blind located, general area?

Also there is a blind every 40 acres? That is a lot of guys bunched up close.

Me too.

Although I'm not positive they weren't loaded with corn from a sack.

Any vegetation is good, rice is better but that does not mean they are going to poor into rice fields besides you and even if so the chances are good that you would still shoot some birds, even ducks that go to the rice field if people are hunting you will get birds flying by that where shot at or on the way to rice and that is where a decoy spread and calling comes into play..

What is the general location of the lease mike?

I hunted a lease that was only stubble every other year. The other years, the field was plowed up and partially flooded. We got a decent amount of ducks but the unflooded part gave us an opportunity for geese which we always did well.

Where is this property located?

Plus take into account, if you stay on, you should have rice on your blind next year.

Assuming...

switches each year.

My buddies family has land in Palmetto down 71 and we hunt a flooded canal in a field and the amount of ducks we get off of them ponds are ridiculous, constant shooting all morning, a lot of geese too

Hell you need anymore people, i may consider!!!

The ducks have not been coming as far south in the past few years, high price leases and lack of birds may be why it's open.

Ask the landowner what type numbers they've had in the past 3 years.

Hunting is becoming a pain in the arse, too many leases pricing out everyone so any public land becomes a madhouse
