You picked your scope out yet for the 6.5?

VX-3i 3.5-10x40

Got the DNZ lows ordered and hopefully they'll be here this week. Went to Cabelas this evening hoping to pickup some ammo and the 6.5 was wiped out. Guess I'll have to order some online. What ammo you gonna shoot?

You're gonna love that 3i.

I'm going with 140 gr Hornady SSTs first. I've got a local shop that stocks the Nosler Customs though. If I had known that beforehand I would've started with those just for the handiness. We'll see how it goes I guess.

Any suggestions? I'd like an IWB but don't really know where to start.

If you're interested in IWB, I'd look at a "tuckable" holster in case you need to tuck your shirt, completely concealing your gun and holster. OTOH, a "tuckable" holster works just as well untucked. I find myself leaving my "tuckable" holsters untucked more and more. Most will utilize 2 clips (or leather loops) to attach the holster to your belt, but some use only one. Your next decision is leather vs Kydex vs hybrid (uses both leather and Kydex). Double clip holsters are more stable (especially w/ a heavier gun), but single clip holsters are easier to put on and take off. I'd expect your XDS to be fine w/ a single clip. I also prefer for the single clip to be offset from the body of the gun as this makes the package a little thinner. I carry my IWB holsters about 3:30-4:00 and like them to have a mild cant, usually about 15 deg.

As far as my personal experience, I've been pleased by my holsters from Side Guard ("Tuck Clip") and R. Grizzle Leather ("Southern Sidekick"). I have a double clip holster from Little Bear Leather, but their single clip looks nice as well.I'm going to order an OWB holster from TT Gunleather. The hybrid are very popular, but I prefer leather. Crossbreed and Alien Gear are well known for quality hybrid holsters.

Do we like the regular ole XD? Or is the love only for the XD-M or XD-S? I have a bunch of compact and subcompact pistols. What I want is a full size pistol. Would be a bedside pistol and range toy. Got a bunch of Academy gift cards for my birthday and the Springfield magazine offer has me looking at them.

That depends on how you take your GRIPZONES.

DeoreDX,
I once had a "regular ole XD" and really liked it. I bought it for my first cc gun. Unfortunately, I found I really didn't like a double stack mag gun like the XD for cc so I sold it. For a non-cc gun, I think it would be fine. The XD-S is more appropriate for cc. The XD-M had additional features that to me didn't make it appreciably better than "a regular ole XD."

Man I love my 3.3 XDS in .45. Haven't shot the 4" version yet but am totally satisfied with the accuracy and nominal recoil from a subcompact.

Maybe you ladies should try a .22 short?

LOL...just kiddin...
