Hunters Getting Fed Up With Bears

There's a semi new facebook page Louisiana Black Bear Report with hunters posting all the feeders and stands the bears are destroying.
These things are a nuisance and have moved on to our land the past few years.

The bears were here naturally. Hunters feeders were not. I say the bears have seniority. Man , like Ben Lilly, came and killed them all. Lilly also killed a bunch of Ivory Billed peckers. And the Tensas nwr feels the need to name a bridge after him.

My buddies brother had $600 Leica range Finder in his box stand in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid on it. Bear crawled in the stand ripped open the bucket and destroyed it. They also have had several game cameras destroyed by them as well. This is in Catahoula Parish.

How about we start a lottery for bear tags in the state? Money goes to helping bears and maybe they eventually learn the feeders are for the deer to be hunted, not them.

my parents have a big spread up in the ozarks near sand gap.
when they first bought it my brother and I put feeders out all over with visions of our own private deer harvest.
took about a month to find out that the bears do not give a shite and will destroy any feeder or anything that looks like a feeder in minutes. So we abandoned the feeder idea and guess what...we never see bears anymore

I'm more for hunting bears, than I give a shite about feeders. Having a hunting population only helps the species as a whole.
I also want elk and bison back in the state - but I can only ask so much for now.

I'm fine with hunting them as well. Hopefully the populations connect and we get a chance soon.

Truthfully, I feed a couple times a year. It wouldn’t bother me if they banned feeding. But that would probably only stop half the people from doing it.

That'll never happen, especially not bison. Too many fences, roads, and lack of native range to support them. Neither was ever very numerous in Louisiana, either.
We just need to make it a few more years and hopefully the state opens a season on the bears. That should help with the numbers and human interactions.
However, if the state just banned feeders, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Or just figure out a way to keep the bear from tearing your feeders up. It's not easy, but it's not impossible.

Bears are eating camps, power poles, deer stands, and trail cameras. Time for a limited season. Put a value on them like they did the gators.

I am one of the biggest proponent of animals over humans you can find. If it wasn't for my religious beliefs I would be all for Gates population control. People suck.
With that said I am a realists, black bear ls should have never been reintroduced in LA. The requirements for delisting are bs and unattainable.
