Open the valve and light a fire in front of it.
Jk, just lift it, an empty tank is light compared to a full one.

And as far as swapping them out, you can do it anywhere? How does that work?

Open the valve, open valve to burners on grill. Do you hear gas moving through?

Ive got like 5 or 6 tanks now.
Grill
Outdoor heater
Burner
Just keep them full or a couple full and cycle them out.
Usually just run them out.

I like that. Where do you like to swap them out at?

How to tell how much propane is in your tank
Bottom line, an empty tank should weigh whatever is stamped on the collar (most say T.W. 16.6 lbs). Then it can hold right around 20 pounds of propane. So if you weigh your tank, subtract the tare weight listed on the collar and figure out what percent of 20 lbs of propane is left.

I dont know why, but Ive grown impatient and the closest refill station to me is a old nasty gas station. Id love to just get them refilled.
However, the nice gas station and dollar general by my house both do the cylinder exchanges. Its a little more expensive but Im in and out in under a couple minutes.
Check your nearest gas station or hardware store. Having it refilled will be cheaper.

Pretty much. I usually go to Home Depot or a gas station near my home.

I totally get that. I refill because there is an Ace Hardware close to me, and I can look at all kinds of neat shite I'll never buy while tank is filled.

Amazon
CVS, WalMart & Home Depot (I think) do exchanges
Always safe to keep a full one on standby if you grill a lot

I keep using it thinking it's going to run out but honestly I'm amazed at how much grilling you can do with 1 tank. Granted I have a smallish 3-burner grill but still. I don't know how much propane costs but this 1 tank has probably gotten me tge equivalent of $100 worth of charcoal and it's still going.
Not only that but the damn thing got washed into my pool during the flood and never missed a beat.

If you are ready to cook a rack of ribs, your tank will run out.

Tractor Supply sells propane at some locations. They charge by the gallon. Grill tank cost $9.00 to refill.
Link to TSC propane locations. Web site says $2.79 a gallon but it was $1.89 last time I refilled.
