Mind giving me an opinion on a dog training issue? This would get us off the topic of trading ole ladies to shoot mallards.

ok here goes,

I send her back, she runs 5 feet, stops turns around and looks at me. I send her back again and she will run until I blow the whistle to stop her and give her direction.

How in the frick do I get her to stop "popping?"

I have tried putting piles out and just sending her, after a few days I move the pile back and she does fine, and so on. It is just on a blind that she refuses to take a line and stick with it.

Has she been collar conditioned? If so she needs BACK-NICK-BACK.

As soon as you see her break down and start to slow preparing for a turn give a verbal BACK and hit the momentary stimulation on the E-collar and give another verbal BACK! This whole process takes less than 2 seconds. Keep doing it until she doesn't think about slowing or turning. When she is solid on going work a few BACK-NICK-BACK even if she is blowing and going. The next issue will be her being slow to stop. That means you use the same approach. WHISTLE=NICK-WHISTLE.

She is collar conditioned. I will start trying that this evening, hopefully she stays sharp on the whistle stops. Thanks for the info.

Let me know how this afternoon goes. I couldn't tell you by not seeing the dog but most popping problems can be fixed rather quickly. Remember they learn from habit so if the suggestion I made doesn't start working fairly quick just stop. The more she does it wrong the harder it is to get her to do it right.

Will do, the only reason I was hesitant to nick her is that I didn't want her running from something instead of to something.

I understand. But when you utter the word BACK she needs to leave like her arse is on fire. It is your responsibility to know when to stop her and give direction. Put it this way, you ever seen a slow dog run true lines? I'm sure there is one out there but I have never seen one.

New on gunbroker the classic black field is selling for $900-1000, so with an amount of use I would say $700
Seems to me that anyone willing to pay $700.00 for a used gun would spend $200.00 more to have a new one of the same make. Maybe my philosophy is not the mainstream thinking.

I think it's a deal both ways @ $600.00.

Well, she got a lot better this evening. I didn't want to force it to hard so I only did it a couple times. I'll get back on it again tomorrow.

If she straightened up on just a few times you didn't have a huge problem. You might not ever need to do it again but always be prepared to enforce your command. That means collar on any time you are working her. Thats until you are satisfied and believe hole heartedly that you will not need to make a correction. Good job though.
