He apparently didn't lease this part this year. He was trying to get $3,800 for the second split.

And this is only for 100 of the 600 acres, or so I was told.

The only thing good about it was...

After all our scratches it was only a 30 min ride to the house haha

This thread pretty much proves that if it's a good spot for a reasonable price it's not going to make it to be available to public

It sounded to good to be true. I was a little skeptical when I heard it wasn't leased out this year.

oil companies have really driven up the price the last 15 or so years....let oil stay around $40 for a few years and you'll be able to get in a good blind for cheap

of course when it goes back up they will lease it back out from under you for double what you're paying

My whole problem is exactly what yellowfin stated. Good leases that have open spots, you never hear about it. I have no connections in the duck lease game. The past few years I've been ready to drop 1-3k for any lease opening I hear about. Well as soon as I heard it was available I was on my way with the cash....

Yeah, but I might not be able to afford it then!

I'm with you Geauxcats, I don't really have any ins or know anyone to get started. I just decided it was time to give it a shot. A couple guys from here have been nice enough to let me tag along, but that's pretty much the extent of my experience.

We used to lease one of four blinds in a field near Roanoke, we paid 6k for a 4 man blind and would kill 5-600 birds a season.

Company out of Lafayette came in and offered land owner 40k for the four blinds, can't really blame him for kicking us out

Today marked the 10th time I've hunted Sherburne this season... 8th scratch.

Only hunted the same spot twice.

I spent two hours scouting after the hunt this morning.

I've scouted red river pretty hard as well this year.

I'm limited because although I have access to a boat and fourwheeler, my buddies hunt just as much as I do so its hard to use their stuff when they plan on using it also.

Sherburne is really the only place you can duck hunt walking in around the BR area.

I would literally do every job that needs to be done on work days at a lease. Hell I would probably have a camp built and donate it to the club is how bad I want in on a lease haha

I ask for no pitty. People I know have asked how crazy am I to keep at it like this.

I always say you can't kill anything at the house. So I make sure I hunt at least 30 days out of the season every year

get a boat and camp near Lacassine or Sabine if you want to kill ducks on public land in Louisiana

What about Grassy Lake? I've heard some good things about this place.
