What part of Lake Erie are you going to?

A few years ago, we went to Put-In-Bay, Ohio for a getaway and went on a charter trip and caught some really nice walleye.

When I was young, my family had a cabin in Rhinelander, WI and we used to go up there for weeks at a time to walleye fish.

The plan is out of Huron right now. With the weather yesterday that may change. Waiting to look at tomorrow’s satellite images to decide where the right clarity of water is.

Western basin for sure. They are still in pre spawn mode which means we should catch some 10+ pounders. We hit several over 7 in December. The smallest was just shy of 20 inches.

3) channel cat. (Small whole)
4) spec
5) bream
6) blue
7) mudcat(dark yellow)

I will not fry goo, as they go in a gravy.

Bluecat all depends on size and where they were caught. A 3 to 5 pound blue cat filet blackened is hard to beat.

Have fun. I really need to plan a trip up there again or to Devil's Lake, ND.

I’d definitely recommend Erie over Devils lake if the volume and size of fish matter.

Right now, there isn’t a lake in the world that can touch Erie on walleye. My ex and children live just south of Cleveland which is why I’m up there so often but I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Plus, charters are relatively cheap. $400-600 per day for up to 4 people. That’s not per person, that’s total, and on damn good boats. I don’t think there is anywhere else a group of four can fish 7 hours for $100 each plus tip.

I will. Heck, just the detour through Put-In-Bay would be worth it to me. I love that place.

I cut out all the yellow fat as well as the blood line. And then I slice them thin and fry them and I can't tell a 40 pounder from a 2 pounder.
