I usually just hit them with a hose and spray a little WD40 on them after. Do y'all have any specific way to clean them after using them in saltwater?

Fill up 5 gallon bucket and dunk them in, splashing them around a little.

Rinse with hot water. Clean and re-lube bearings every few months.

We stick all the rods in a 5 gallon bucket. The reels sit just below the top of the bucket. Put a finger over the hose so they get a real hard spraying. Continue spraying/flushing until the water level in the bucket covers the reels. Immediately dump all the water out.

I know you are wondering. Yes, I've gotten drunk and left them in the water overnight. It didn't hurt them, but I wouldn't make that part of the routine.

I'll rinse them down pretty well with the hose. About once every 6 months I take them apart and lube them, seems to be working well so far.

reel butter. Oil and grease. You can get a starter kit from academy for 20 bucks. It comes with a tube of oil and grease, toothbrush, screwdriver, cloths, and swabs. Plus a carrying case. I just throw the case in the truck if I'm going on multiple day trip just in case. Restock when needed

Think I'll try your method. I'll also let them dry out with the brake side opening down for drainage(bait caster), the bearings on that side are a lot easier to change.

I lay them out on the dock face up... Then proceed to piss on each reel, drink a brew.... repeat. The process usually takes about an hour, unless I pass out

I rinse mine down with a hose, open ended (no nozzle of any sort) low pressure until the water running off the real is relatively clear. Then I hit the reel with Reel Magic, though I have used a silicone lube made by gunk in the past but I cant find that specific one any more. I spray until it appears that all the water has been displaced from the real. WD40 can be problematic on the reel because it can actually strip grease from the real.

I always make it a point also rinse and spray any metal parts on my rod (guides typical) and even the terminal tackle. Also pay attention to the retrieve handle on your reel.
