To pull the heads and reinstall factory lifters (DOD included) is probably $2500 in labor and around $500 in parts. The DOD lifters are a lot more expensive than standard ones.
One other option is to have the engine tuned and AFM/DOD disabled and then take a delete kit to a shop. Just pay them to swap the cam and lifters and leave the new tune on it. That way you don’t have to find a shop that does both the wrench work and the tune.

The only place a trust. Great work more than fair prices.

Shop believes it's a collapsed lifter.
Years ago, we used Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase. Sometimes it would work. Sometimes, it wouldn’t. But it’s worth a shot. We had a knocking noise, on an engine, it did quiet it some by the Marvel in the crankcase and a heavy spray in the carburetor. After removing the head. Part of a piston ring was imbedded in the top of the piston. Good luck.

I have a 2008 Silverado with the afm virus. I have 392k on it and I just had the first collapsed lifter last week. My sons and I rebuilt both heads ourselves. In my case, a collapsed lifter = no compression in that cylinder and a constant misfire on that cylinder. Mine ticked for 10 years and still ticks after rebuilding the heads and replacing all lifters, valves and push rods. I did not replace the rocker arms, so that may still be the cause of the ticks, but it runs great and I’m going to keep driving/fixing it unless it gets wrecked.
ETA: I spent about $1000 on parts to do both sides as described.

LaRue Automotive. 713 774 0161 They know their stuff and a very fair and reasonable. I have been using them for gasoline vehicles since 2010 after a recommendation from the owner of an auto parts store in Stafford, TX.
James is the owner. Not sure what part of town you are in but they are more Southwest off Beltway 8 about 2 miles south of 59.
