I want to take the wife and kids to catch a few trout. I haven't been to either in 5 or 6 years but have a new boat and ready to go. Where would y'all go for a day trip?

Fished Delacroix Sat am, found about 16 keepers and a limit of reds... Water was stained from river and not a ton of tide...did best in 4 Horse and twin pipeline.

April to Sept - Hopedale > Delacroix
Oct to Dec - Delacroix > Hopedale
Jan to March - don't bother
The MRGO rocks are hot right now. Launch from Breton Sound Marina as early as you can, live shrimp 2-3 ft below popping corks with a slip shot weight halfway. Don't go on days where wind is forecast to be > 10 mph, especially if its a north wind. Weekdays are best to avoid lines at the launch. Don't go when tides are slack. Tides I would ignore moon phases - it's not nearly as important as wind speed and tidal flow.
Search on LA sportsman website for more details on "the MRGO rocks" - they seem to write a big detailed article every spring including the best route and technique. Good luck!
