Any of you guys fish this area with any frequency. Friend has invited me down there and I was just wondering how it compares to Venice, Cocodrie, Grand Isle, etc...
Thanks
Thanks

In my experiences, hopedale fishing is on par with any other inshore fishing in LA.

Delta, I fish Hopedale and love it. What time of season are you looking at going? Right now, fishing is kind of in between seasons. You can go and catch reds but the specs are a month or so away. Also, depends on what side of the MRGO you will fish.

The good thing about Hopedale is you have a bunch of different options. No matter the wind, you can fish it. You have access to the Biloxi Marsh, Delacroix, Pointe la Hache, and every thing in between...and outer bays like Eloi, Black Bay, and quick access to Breton Sound.

With the Caenarvon diversion open full blast for nearly a year now, I'd try to stay on the Biloxi Marsh side, and if you wanna go farther out, Bay Eloi and Breton Sound.
-
Breton Sound Marina is the nicest launch facility in St. Bernard, and they are very helpful.

we fly fish the flats out there at least 2 days a week up until mid feb through april when the winds are just ridiculous, caught my personal best on the fly rod in late january 22 pound red fish.
in about a month as someone said the trout will move in, but with the river high, the water is gonna be muddy the farther you go out.
find a deep hole in the marsh and fish it

Great fishing IMHO - My in-laws have a camper trailer (rent a space)that the keep down there by the BSM. THey rent a hoist spot 2 miles away to keep their boat out of the water. Great setup.

Probably will not go until second weekend in April.
Guys I greatly appreciate all of the positive feedback. This board is a good addition to this website. You cannot beat cajun/redneck hospitality.

Yall still looking at going this weekend? The wind has been out of control. I hear that they are really catching them in Delacroix right now. You may want to consider that area.

Thanks man...not coming this weekend. In-law health issues are gonna derail that it appears.
