Honda 500 Rubicon steering problem

Hit a flooded rice field yesterday morning. Turning right just fine, turning left was a battle. Pulling as hard as I could with left hand and pushing with right. Could barely get it to go left. All of sudden the steering would go back to normal and could turn left with no problems. A minute later couldn't turn left again. no front end noise, no clicking, etc... Problem came and went and finally had to trailer it.
Ran by car wash and cleaned the front very well and did an inspection. Nothing is broken, steering linkage is not bent, Can see no damage at all. Did notice that the outer CV boot on the left side ( same side I had trouble turning toward) has a tear in it. Sitting in the garage and can't turn it left right now. I guess if I drove it a little it would clear and then turn okay.
Anyone had this kind of an issue with Honda before?
