This will keep them from coming back...

Of course, it seems as though you need a trap first.

I'm no expert, but from what I have heard, hogs are like cockroaches. For every one you see there are a dozen that you don't.

A wildlife biologist in Texas told me that of their average litter is 5 piglets.

Of those 5, about 9 survive.

Ok I typed all of this last night but then my phone deleted before I could post it.

I have said it before and I will say it again YOU DO NOT WANT HOGS. They are sexually mature at 6 months of age, and can have 3 litters of 12 in a year but most only have 2 liters of 6. They have better noses than deer, can see in color like us, and are widely considered one of the 4 most intelligent animals. They are omnivores and will eat any and everything they can get to. The amount of destruction they can cause is staggering. I have seen a sounder of 15 adult hogs completely plow 4 acres in one night.

I agree the hog in your pic is a sow and she is still suckling piglets or will be in days. She is or will be running with in a sounder of 10-20. She needs to die first. If the piglets are small enough predators and possibly the boars will kill them off for you once mom is dead. If there is another sow nearby that just delivered or is about to she may adopt the piglets and you will see a Sow with 10-15 piglets. If they are more than 3 weeks old they need to be trapped and killed too.

Most of the commercially available traps are not designed to catch the smallest of the hogs. I would build a trap using 3 cattle panels lined on the inside with 2' tall chicken wire, T posts, and some version of a triggering door. Doors that are designed to let more hogs in after they close work well but a simple wooden drop door will work fine also.

As far as bait plain corn works well but soured corn works better. Root beer also is a good attractant as are grape and raspberry Kool-Aid packets.

If you want more tips on the traps let me know.

Kill em all and let the coyotes sort em out!

Good video and true info. my only criticism is the "large boar" that tested their trap was not that large mabye 150 if that much. a 250 lb plus boar will stand nearly as tall as a 4' cattle panel.

When approaching a trap do so at a distance quietly. Shoot the largest hog in the trap in the ear. Then wait a second for them to calm down. Soemtines they will almost immediately stop. If not then approach clsoer and shoot the others quickly. Repairing traps sucks but has to be done nearly every time. Always go to check traps with an extra T post or two, a driver, some wire, and pliers.

hogs are tough bastards so make sure you put that round behind the ear and even a lil .22 will do the job.

Traps are the way to go. We dont shoot them in the trap like BP though. We tie em up and bring them home and clip the males and worm everything so none is wasted.

Whatcha do is run in there and grab them by the back legs and you can walk them around like a wheel burro

Takes two people, but me and my brother have this too an art. I rope the head, he ropes a hind leg. We pull in opposite directions but allow them to move backwards out the door. I pin him down with a knee to the neck and he hog ties them. Its a blast.

I hog hunted with some guys that would do it similiar to that. They sold the live hogs to some ranch in Texas. This was years ago before the problem over there was as bad as it is now.
