Help me with my hunting room

I built a 12x12 free standing room in the corner of my metal shop. This room is to store all my camo, hunting gear, bows, gun safe and ammo cabinets. The room is insulateed with an exterior door and window unit for climate control purposes. I placed a digital hygrometer in the room and humidity is 75%.
My question is, will getting just a dehumidifier solve the issue or do I need to pull fresh air in the room and dehumidify? I didn't vent initially because this would eliminate my climate control during the winter as my window unit is only an A/C.

A dehumidifier will bring your humidity down by itself, additionally during the warmer months when your window unit is running it will lower the humidity in the room.

Can you post some pictures please? I am looking to do this in my shop and I am always curious how other people did theirs.

Interested in pictures also. I am in the process of building a shop and was wanting to do something similar. Still playing around with layouts to see what will fit.

That Winchester is the same safe I have. I don't see any point in boxing it in like that, but it looks nice.

Agreed. Seems like a lot of wasted space on the sides. Looks like you could at least build some shelves into the dead space there

Here are some pics. Ignore the power wheels Christmas present.

man, that is pretty damn sweet!...have to say, I would be damn tempted to sneak a big screen tv and a recliner in there, though!

This should handle any humidity problems you have. Just keep an eye on the hygrometer. You may have to drop the temp in the humid months.
A window unit is essentially a dehumidifier. Difference is that the condenser (heat) is on the outside instead of being inside the building like a dehumidifier. Also condensate is discarded outside instead of collecting in a pan.

I think my issue is during the winter months and my a/c barely runs therefore not dehumidifying.

crank that bitch down to 25 degrees then.
Myself, I've never had an issue with things getting musty/moldy in winter months. Generally we have much lower moisture content in the winter air. I can leave a pair of leather boots out in my woodshed all winter and won't have a bit mold on them. Do the same in the summer and in two weeks they will be covered. I think you are good-to-go.

right, but you don't need an ac coil to pull humidity out of the air during the winter...basically, cold air can't carry much moisture, so you just have to warm it up to drive the relative humidity down very low. that is why your house is so dry during the winter months without anything pulling humidity out of the air.

That is pretty much spot on to what I want to do. How big is your shop?
