I need to make a rubber bushing out of something, and I'm not sure of the best way to do it.
The finished part needs to be circular, about 3" long, 1/2"ID with 3/4" OD. Best I've got so far is to look for some rubber tubing that fits and cut it, but I'm not seeing it. Also leaning towards using the part and a bolt to make a mold and filling it in with some type of rubber sealant like flex seal and letting it cure, but I'm not sure what would be the best kind to get.
Anyone done something like this?

Could you just go get some bushing for like a anti sway bar and then just put a couple of them together?

Not familiar with those, is the rubber part something that could be bought separate from the whole part?

Make a sand mold and fill it with finely ground plastic. Then stick it in the oven or put a blow torch on it

Not a bad idea but it can't be brittle. This is a spacer for the mounting bracket of a leaf spring.

Take a picture of the bracket, etc
Are you talking about the bushing the bolt goes through?

Yessir, it's the front eye of a slip-style leaf spring. Bolt goes through the rubber, rubber goes inside the eye.

They sell leaf spring bushings at autozone. Just bring your dimensions and pick one that will work.

3 magnum cundoms, back to front to back, drill correct size hole through em, done.

The guy at autozone looked at me like I'd lost my mind, and I can't find it on their online catalog but I'll look again. New leaf springs just come with them.

That's with or without lube?

You're gonna want to get an actual leaf spring bushing for that. Anything else will deteriorate

I'd say without, don't need the viscosity, especially if da bushin' ain't goin' into da bush.

Can you use vinyl tubing? If so, 1/2 X 3/4 is a very common size that you can get at Home Depot

The part that you describe is generally rubber sandwiched between two pieces of metal...nothing that you make yourself is going to last a week.
