Looking at putting together a 35 Whelen. I'm thinking about doing a T/C Encore frame, Bergara barrel, Boyd's stock, and probably a Meopro scope. Does this seem like a pretty good setup or should I change some things?

I would start with CVA Apex .35 Whelen Centerfire Black/Stainless Steel Standard Contor.

Product Description:
CR4510S Apex .35 Whelen Centerfire Black/Stainless Steel Standard Contour

Additional Information:
The new APEX is, quite frankly, the best break-action, multi-barrel interchangeable rifle system on the market today. Just by shouldering the APEX, the serious shooter will notice a vast superiority to its competitors in both balance and fit. But the real test comes with the shooting. And it is in the shooting that two very important features make the APEX really shine.

First, every APEX barrel is made by Bergara Barrels™, which provide a level of accuracy performance that is unequaled by any muzzleloader on the market today – due to its premium, custom quality. These Bergara Barrels, all made of the highest quality 416 grade stainless steel, have quickly become recognized as some of the most accurate production barrels in the world. And while many of the world's most highly regarded center-fire manufacturers use Bergara barrels on their guns, only CVA offers them in a muzzleloader. It is these Bergara barrels that enable CVA to guarantee our APEX series muzzleloading rifles to be the "The Most Accurate Muzzleloader You've Ever Shot -- Or Your Money Back." (Click for guarantee details)

Second, APEX’s ambidextrous butt stock is designed specifically for scope shooting, with a height of comb that positions the shooter perfectly in line with the optics. The result is a rifle that shoulders and points as naturally as your favorite shotgun – just like it’s an extension of your body.

As for versatility, the APEX can be quickly and easily set up with a wide range of Bergara Barrels in 15 different muzzleloading and center-fire calibers. Plus, every APEX features CVA’s trigger guard actuated breeching mechanism, which is extremely simple to operate. And its innovative trigger design provides an incredibly clean, crisp pull that is adjustable from approximately 3 to 4.75 pounds. And for ease of cleaning, the APEX features the patent pending CVA QRBP (Quck Release Breach Plug); the only such system that really works after the gun is fired. Every APEX also includes a Quake® Claw® sling and a custom DuraSight® Z-2 Alloy™ rail mount.

• 416 Stainless Steel, Fluted, 25" BERGARA BARREL
• 1:14” twist
• Ambidextrous Synthetic Stock with Rubber Grip Panels – Black

I have the T/C pro hunter in the .35 and it shoots perfectly fine. I never saw a reason to pay the coin for an expensive barrel on a gun that I wouldn't ever shoot over 300 yards. Just personal opinion though. I've killed a lot of deer with mine and the furtherest was around 180-200 yards.

The Bergara barrel is much cheaper than the T/C and is supposed to be more accurate.

Bergara

Bergara

Again, I don't shoot my .35 in matches where I need .5 MOA. I hunt with it. At 100 yards, my gun is right at, or maybe just over 1 MOA out of a sled with 225 Nosler Accubonds. I was just saying spending a bunch of money for the difference in .5 MOA for a hunting rifle doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It makes a ton of sense if your building a custom long range comp rifle, but a deer or other critter isn't going to know the difference.

I guess I don't understand what you're getting at. I am thinking about going with the Bergara which is cheaper than buying a T/C barrel. I'm not replacing the T/C barrel, I'm buying this gun piece by piece if I go this route.

I got the CVA Elite stalker (stainless and mossy oak) in .444. I don't hunt with anything else except my bow.

If it is going to be cheaper then all the more power to you. I must have misunderstood because I was assuming you were going to buy a T/C Encore and then replace all the shite on it.

If you really did want to spend some coin for something nice, you could get a custom .35 built on a 700 action.

I have a TC frame and stock with a Bergara barrel with a Trijicon 3-10x56 on it. Don't shoot it much anymore, but it's a really nice setup.

My old man has an Apex, I shot it last week, accurate at 100yd sight in and good, crisp, light trigger. He loves it.

I shoot a tc pro hunter with a bergua barrel because it was cheaper. Get a one piece scope mount like the dnz and a 1x oversized hinge pin. I have a 3.5x10x50 vortex diamondback for glass.

Gun shoots fine with 225 corelocks but want to try the 180's.
