I only have limited information at the moment, but one of our customers left out of Shell Beach, LA yesterday and has not returned. He is with his 7 year old son. They’re in a 28’ Blue Wave with twin Mercury 300 V8s. I’ll post pictures below. If anyone recalls seeing them yesterday, please contact the Coast Guard or St. Bernard Sheriff Department. I’ll post any additional information that I receive. No EPIRB or other tracking device on the boat that I know of.

Somebody close to the family said the boat was able to get in touch with a family member and the coast guard has their coordinates and is looking for them but everybody was safe on the boat at that time of the call. Praying they are found safe and soon.

That’s great, hadn’t seen the update. One always wonders when a twin engine boat breaks down…bad fuel? Electrical? I follow these things because of the question I debate in my head for a future offshore boat about single versus twins (or more)

The great thing about the cat I had was the fuel and batteries were separate systems for each engine. I wonder if the operator had a health issue in the op’s case? Odd for a twin screw rig in decent shape to be disabled.

If they ran aground in the Biloxi marsh they wouldn't have cell phone coverage. That seems like the most logical explanation.

Don’t think so, if the photos in the OP are the actual boat he has an antenna/radio and would have been able to call coast guard/sea tow/other boaters before spending the night out there

How do you afford a boat like that but now spend $400 for a Garmin inreach?

Insane boat. I assume stuck in marsh. Easy as shite in that boat if he has no experience on what's deep and what's 6 inches of water out there. I know the area well and would be terrified to troll around the marsh in that beast

True

I fish with my two young sons just in the bayous and local lakes of south la and I’m contemplating getting something like that. Just in case.

At the lease there isn't much cell service. I think I'll be getting the "spot". Its $100 and a monthly service for hunting season.

I have no colon left and can dehydrate pretty quick if not careful. With my boys with me it thought it might be a good safety measure.

Hell just huting and loading four wheelers in general with a colon my necessitate having one.

I must have slept through the info on these. Whenever my new motor is released from the hostage situation it’s in, I’ll have one of these.
