I need help identifying what type of hawk this is. It’s been flying around our neighborhood in Livingston Parish.

That’s what I was thinking. Wasn’t sure about the pattern around the eyes though. Thought kites had more of a black mask around the eyes

Beautiful Birds.
I saw one come off a big Live Oak over my house and grabbed a Cicada in mid-air, flew back to the Oak and began eating.
I was sitting on the deck reading that morning.
Nature is beautiful yet cruel.
If you ever get to see a Swallow Tailed Kite, they are beautiful as well. I saw one here in Lake Charles a few months ago on the migration.

I hope this works. Imgur from phone of Swallow Tailed Kite
ETA - Phone quality photo but still cool seeing one pass through in Lake Charles.

Looks like a Mississippi kite to me as well. I have had a pair nest in my backyard trees for at least the past 10 years. I love watching them hunt bugs in the air. They are very acrobatic birds. I saw one of them the other day on the ground with a small snake, 4 crows were trying to take the snake and he finally just flew up into a tree top and commenced eating the snak.
