They're FirstAlert. One of them keeps going off and I can't figure out which one as I can't get to it before it sets them all off in the entire damn house. We have 2 models that have carbon monoxide and then the ones in the bedrooms seem to be just smoke. One of the 2 was blinking red. Replaced the battery and now it's solid red instead of green like the other one. They are still going off but I don't think it's that one anymore. I'm going to change the battery in the bedroom one that I think is the issue. But does anyone know why one of them would be solid red with a fresh battery? These are all a big pain in the arse.

Change out all of them with lithium batteries, no more problems for 10 years

But to answer your question, is the red light on one that has a carbon monoxide detector? If so it may of reached its life and need to be replaced, and everything I have read says the combos should be avoided because your CO detector should be low and your smoke detector should be high

It's not even 2 years old. Builder put them in. I'll look on amazon right now for some lithium 9volts. Thanks.

When you replace the batteries are you resetting the unit?

mine are hard wired first alert as well, and one of them beeps every few months, but it does not set the other ones off. That one just keeps beeping until it gets a new battery. So it's pretty easy to pinpoint.

I would go ahead and change all the batteries.

I talked to first alert yesterday because I was having problems with lithium smoke detectors. They are sending new ones and said to use an air duster on the sensors once a month because dust on the sensor will activate it.

We had this problem. Hard wired smoke detectors do fail, and the bad one causes the others to go off. We had to replace all of them and now everything is good.

I don't know about Louisiana, but in Florida it is code for all smoke detectors to be hard wired. I hate it and wanted to go to battery powered so one would not set the others off. It is maddening for that shite to go off at 2 am and scare you half to death.

Unfortunately sometimes they go bad. If the builder pulled the dust covers off before all the dusty work was done that tends to foul them up.

I'm pretty sure that's the only time they can go off. At least that's my experience

I had one go off at about 2 AM and couldn't get it to stop. I had to remove the whole thing from the ceiling to kill the power to it before it would shut down. still have two wires with wire nuts hanging out of the ceiling where it was mounted. Eventually I will get a new one to replace it.
