what yall planted/planting? Im going with oats/wheats for sure. We had southern alfalfa last yr but that shite is real expensive this yr so we are looking for one more seed to put down.
Turnips? Beets? Clover? what should i go with?

I do the cheep camo bag of wildlife game mix and then buy extra winter peas and clover. That mix works for me. Last year I tried some mix lsu put out but it sucked for me. It had a lot of turnips mixed in with it. My deer don't touch turnips for some reason.

Planted 6 plots of wheat/oats/rye last Saturday in North Caddo Parish. Checked them Friday, hogs have completely mowed 3 over. Small sprouts of wheat everywhere else as of now.

I plant about the 15th of October all year. Finished all bushhogging and tree trimming this past weekend. Will plant this coming weekend. Of course I also let the deer eat all of my soybeans from summer plots each year before planting winter plots.

Anyway it's not too late at all to plant.

The tractor we use to mow/disk our plots is hooked up to a module builder. I cant ever plant until we finish picking cotton. Should finish that mid-week. We usually just plant wheat with a little rye grass mixed in...

I've never gave a damn about food plots.

Good thing because about the only thing we could grow well would be rice.

Rice wouldn't grow worth a damn in that acidic arse soil

We planted a week ago. Got lucky and timed it perfect, it has rained steady ever since. Nothing hard enough to wash the seeds away, but a good steady rain for several hours jsut about every day.

We went yesterday and sowed some rye in a few small clearings in the woods. Its usually hit or miss whether it comes up or not.
