The shield is gone and a 3" gp100 is in.

It needs a night sight and a less massive grip. The front sight is pinned and supposedly SP101 sights fit it perfectly.

The grip is atrociously huge.

I know nothing about what's good and not good with these things. Suggestions???

An edit of your title might not get this anchored...

Throw a pic up. My SP101 is over 10 years old, so I'm sure the sights have changed.

The bigger the grip, the better imo.

It's a regular ol 3" GP100.

The grips are wayyyyyyyyy too big. I guess they would be good if you have gorilla mitts, but the finger groves are not in the right place for me.

I swapped the stock hogue rubber grip with a wooden hogue grip in coco bolo. It looks just like this...

The problem is, its the same size as the stock grips. I think the older GP100s come with a slimmer grip but Im just not a fan of how they look. Apparently they are very comfortable though. Here is a pic...

Another option would be a pachmayr grips.

Those last grips are awful. The wooden hogue is where it's at. I have rubber hogue, but I'm going to get wooden ones.

Really? Because they're ugly or because they don't feel good?

The feel. I can't go but a few rounds with grips like that.

Gotcha.

I'm going shoot mine now. They might not be as bad as I think they are.

3", 4" and 6"

I have the 4" GP100 .357 mag and love it. Built like a tank. Keep it on night stand duty w/ hornady critical defense 125gr.

Does the GP100 only come in .357? I want a .44 magnum.

Yea it's only available in .357 currently as far as I know.

There were .38 and .327 versions available.

A .44 double action ruger is a redhawk or super redhawk. They are gigantic guns.

The GP100 also comes in .38special w/ 4" and 6" barrels but might as well just get the .357mag so you can shoot it with .38 or .357.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to shoot. The sight was really hard to see but me and a friend still hit a 16oz beer can at 20 yards most shots late in the evening shooting pretty quickly.

It's a powderpuff to shoot even with buffalo bore loads. Muzzle flash was pretty brutal though. The grips soak up recoil really well. I think I'll keep them.
