I was thinking about picking up gun restoration as a hobby, and was going to buy a few old clunkers off the internet to start off with. Anyone have experience with doing either? Any advice?

If you live close to the Baton Rouge/Denham/Central/Ascension area it shouldn't be too hard to find some locally to get started on. Buying off the internet will likely ruin most, even if its free, deals. Not working guns cost as much to ship and transfer as working guns. Since these will likely come from individuals who do not have access to good shipping rates like online retailers or dealers who can use USPS, you could be looking at $50-$70 per long gun just for ship and transfer and $40-$60 for handguns.
