Gun cleaning help

Got an 870. Last time I shot it was 2 months ago. I cleaned the gun that night then rubbed it down with a soft cotton diaper that had gun oil on it. I pulled the gun out tonight getting ready for a shoot tomorrow and 3 small surface rust spots are in it.
I don't know if you can even see them from the picture.
I took an old tooth brush and lightly scrubbed in some gun oil, it seemed to work.
Any other tips or tricks?
TIA

Get some Rem Oil and a rag
spray remoil on rag then coat the gun with it (metal only)
if you see these spots just do it again

Break free, is what you need to use.

Its an express. I thought they were supposed to have rust on them.
May sound crazy but if you have a gun that you know will not be used for a while you can clean it normally and then smear petroleum jelly on all exposed parts. After that slide gun into a cheap gun sock for storage. This has been done to all of my "safe queens" that I do not shoot.

I know but my dad gave it to me a year ago and it was in great condition. It's a left handed model as well

It is probably just surface rust. Rub it away and keep the thing well oiled. If it has pits you will need to take more agressive measure to remove the cancer.
