Going down this weekend, but not really seeing any good reports. I’m hearing the salinity in the bay is so high, the trout aren’t really on the beach. Anyone catching?

Went yesterday, burnt a lotta gas. Only 8 keepers and a bull red. I’m finding this year you roll up on a spot and catch 1 or 2 nice trout…..then it stops. In years past you’d pick up a dozen. Not sure what’s the difference.
Lots of schoolies and white trout under birds.

Water is as clear as Emerald Coast of FL, between GI and Fourchon. Have never seen our water this clear in 25 years of fishing the coast. You can see the base of the rocks at the barges, while it’s totally amazing to see I think it has the fish spooked as there was plenty of rafts of mullet but no fish. You know it’s a problem when the live shrimp are dying on your hook before anything takes it.

If I did it again I would go East and North and find more stained water. Good luck and report back.

The potlickers and dolphins have limited our success. Been fishing late afternoon, caught 25 Sunday and 15 Monday. All on plastics. Good many white trout mixed in.

One of the guides at the cleaning table had about 20, but some hammers. Said they caught them at East Timbalier on croakers he cast netted up. Bite was really slow, catch 1-2, wait 20-30 minutes then catch 1-2 more.

Can confirm the water on the beach is super clear, haven’t ever had much luck on trout with it that clear. Lots of things with teeth like it though.

come on baw, how else am I suppose to figure out where the fish are?

ETA: this is a joke. Those type of people drive me nuts. They see you hook up and big motor across the entire oyster reef to get a cast distance away from you.

As far as a report, the clear water has made it a bit more difficult, and the big wind has been kicking my arse up and down the beach. Been so damn hot too. I’m away this week up in Banff, but plan to head back down next weekend

All good. Most people were courteous and pulled up with their trolling motor, had no problem with them

It’s the people that were trying to go in between us and the other boat (50’ apart) with a 150, realize that there wasn’t enough room and jam it in to reverse out. We had 25 at 7:30 when this happened and finished the day with 25 at 9:00…..

Update. My gf and her son and I filled up a 54 quart in a little over 2 hours this afternoon. All on plastics. Had to wrestle several away from Flipper and his family that circled us the entire time. Had one boat try to brother-in-law us, but the catfish apparently liked their stink crickets more than the specks.

How's the water look? Last Friday it was like blue water in caminada pass. I dont recall ever seeing the water that pretty inshore anywhere in louisana ever.

We were behind the island, and it was just the right color green. Buggie told me people were catching a good many surf fishing yesterday behind the jetties by Bridgeside. Surf was a bit rough this morning when we rode down the beach

Any word if they are catching many crabs in the surf? Heading down Sunday and the kids have been bugging about setting crab lines Monday morning.

Blue boot rodeo. Going to have a good bit of boats in the water if weather holds.

The is another thread about crabbing on the beach. Water is too clear. And yes at least 8 people in our group got stuck by jellyfish.

If you were going Grand Isle this week, would you first hit the surf or the bay behind the island?
