have you checked the cords that plug into the back of the unit? this was happening to me and i was looking at all these things and then i realized that the power cords weren't completely plugged into the back of the units

I have the same problem with my Garmin GPS. I have yet to solve the problem but, the Garmin tech said I neeed to have at least 11 volts to my GPS and anything less will cause it to shut down. I used a vlot meter and I am getting 11.5 volts to it with nothing running. I have other issues so I am sending it back getting a replacement.
