A Glock 23 is the AK47 of handguns. They're not pretty to look at but, they work well under any circumstances.

I had a XD I bought around 2006. The slide finish wore very quickly and I had rust issues. This gun was used very roughly but I did maintain and clean it religiously. They may be different now. I have stayed away from the XD's after I sold that one. YMMV.
