I know it is past its life expectancy but I put about 1000 bucks into when I got the boat two years ago. (New Powerpack, took oil injection unit off, plugs, Carb rebuilt etc. It ran fine except where they didn't fully disconnect the oil injector. (I mix it myself) The motor has very low hours and sat for years. The only issue is that I have noticed it is a fuel hog. Getting about 2 miles to a gallon when it used to run all day on 6 gallons. It is running great, don't see any fuel leaks etc, but my 200 seahorse got better MPG's than this. Any ideas on what is going on here? Carb stuck at full or something?

Those are actually pretty good motors with the power to weight ratio they have. Sorry, can't help with the fuel consumption issue.

Next time you run it, at idle and out of gear, look at the water around the lower unit. See if you see any oil floating from the exhaust. If you see that, your fuel pump is leaking thru.

Also, those motors do burn a lot of fuel to start with.

Those motors are known for getting small stress cracks around the carbs. Take the cowling off, hook it to a hose, run it and look for has leaks. You have a leak somewhere
