I have a DPMS and a Remington R25 both chambered in .308. Im looking at buying another gun and am leaning toward the SCAR 17s. anybody here own one or shot one? whats your opinion?

What is that $2700 semi-auto .308 going to do that your existing semi-auto .308's can't?

Are you just looking for another semi auto 308 to have fun with? Or does this thing have a specific purpose?
From what I've heard, FN barrels are some of the top on the market and provide superb accuracy. The build quality of the FN 17s is supposed to be great minus the stock that feels cheap.
Military Arms Channel has a good review here:

FN hammer-forges almost all their barrels these days. They also have a very good chrome lining process that's very even in deposition thickness throughout the barrels. Problem is their lining has a tendency to be somewhat softer compared to Colt's and other manufacturers.

I've heard it eats optics. So no cheap stuff.
For close to $3000, I'd get a GAP-10 but that's me.

I NEED another gun for business purposes and WANT something that is a top tier semi auto. My other two are good guns but I need a third and want to make sure I'm getting the best gun for the money. I've read all the reviews and watched the videos but was hoping I could find someone on here with first hand knowledge.

It will be equipped with a military grade Flir RS64 thermal imaging scope which I believe should stand up to the test. I haven't looked at the Gap 10 but I will. Thanks!

While the stock does feel cheap, I like that it is lighter than the R25 and I really like the folding stock.

There is a huge wait list on Larue rifles. OP, Arsenal Democracy is releasing a new .308 AR soon which will be phenomenal. The LWRC REPR is also another great option. The SCAR is good but it doesn't do much more than an AR. Plus the SCAR stock trigger is horrendous (you will need to spend $350 out the box for a Geissle Super SCAR).

LMT MWS would be cool, easy caliber changes if you decide.

Not any more. They are caught up on AR-15's and about a month out on AR-10's. They plan to be caught up on AR-10's by the end of January. They supposedly will also be releasing other caliber uppers at SHOT. They posted pics of two 300 Blackout test uppers the other day.

Then you should be looking at other rifles. SCAR is a battle rifle, it will deliver accuracy suitable to that purpose. You looking for something more suitable for nighttime hunting and can spend more than 3-grand then you should be looking at semi-custom AR rifles that will deliver better accuracy. LaRue was mentioned, I would seriously look there.

I almost forgot, JP enterprises is also a good place to look. Lead times are shorter than LaRue as well. If it were up to me, I would stick with an Arsenal Democracy though.

I have shot the Repr, it is a little heavy (8.5 lbs without the scope) and I didn't love the feel of it. The GAP 10 is a lot heavy (10 lbs) and looks like there is a 8-10 month wait. Looking to get the new rifle within the next month. I have heard about the trigger on the SCAR and am prepared to upgrade if I go that route.

The LaRues also all now come with their own 2-stage MBT trigger.
