Rented an AirBnB for the weekend with the wife and some friends. She had a place here as a kid. We wouldn’t mind trying some fishing even though none of us have been here before. Trying to decide if it’s worth running to Biloxi Marsh area instead of buying a MS license to fish Bay St Louis. If we decide to fish BSL does anyone have a recommendation as to if we fish the bridge, Marsh to the north or beach?

I’d run to BM, if weather permits

Is it a straight shot to BM out the pass? Any reefs or obstructions to be on the look out for? I’m downloading the Navionics app.

There's always fish to be caught around the Bay, but you'll definitely have a better shot at a good box if you run to the marsh. I don't fish BM often, so I can't help much there. It's an easy run from Pass/BSL.

The reds are thick around the bay this year. Trout were good in close for most of the year, but seems to have slowed down a bit lately.

If the weather is anything like last weekend, keep your eyes peeled. Storms were popping up all over, all weekend long.

Taylor Reef is south of the bay. Your nav chart should pick it up, and it’s a large rock pile out of the water. You can find some fish around there, or head south of pass Christian to Marianne light, with croakers. I’ve caught lots of 2-3 pound trout around pass Marianne. .

I normally do pretty good at Taylor Reef, but yesterday was awful. Saw a couple of sheepshead right on the reef, but couldn’t pull one out. Might have been a little better if I had some live bait, but I fished artificial only.

It wasn’t just Taylor Reef that was slow. I fished a number of reefs and didn’t have much luck.

There are a couple of artificial reefs right around Bay St. Louis/Pass Christian. The coordinates are all posted online. I think it’s on DMR’s website. I think they are all on Navionics as well.

I really have nothing to contribute other than fishing in pass Christian in 90’s was the shite. First place I ever casted a rod.

It subsequently flew out of my hand in into the water. My dad yelled at me. Hours later he snagged it.

That’s really what memories are made of.

I'm not sure what kind of boat you have but the forecast is calling for southeast winds and 1-2' seas all weekend. That's not fun in a small boat even if you don't get caught in storms. Tomorrow forecast is 10-15kt winds, add a passing storm to that and you will get your arse kicked in most boats.

I haven't decided if I am going to say frick it and go to the marsh or go sit at a sandbar up river and drink beer

If you do go to the marsh make sure you mark flatboat key on your GPS if you want to keep your lower unit

If you want to fish in the bay just throw dead shrimp on the bottom at the train or car bridge, you can also fish the pilings on the southeast side or the oyster beds marked with a pole in between the bridges

Decided we are going to try BSL in the morning before taking the wives up to the Jourdan River area in the afternoon.

Fish over oyster bottom on SE side of car bridge. At a bare minimum you will get a rod or two bent over by some massive drum. They're everywhere in there right now.

Be sure to dock at BSL for a bit and hit up TBT and others in the afternoon. You won't regret it.

That’s right next to us. We are next to the boat launch just SE of car bridge.

Are you at the Inn by the Sea?

I stayed there a couple weeks ago and did some wade fishing over in Waveland. Caught some decent trout on a She-Dog one morning when they were hitting topwater. I got skunked the next morning, but a guy fishing live shrimp under a popping cork was steadily catching trout around an old pier.

Thanks for the recommendation. We caught a few reds and a lot of black drum along the train bridge. Nothing was biting at car bridge or Taylor’s reef unfortunately.

Taylor reef sucks right now and Cat Island was terrible Thursday. First trip all year with less than 10 Keepers. We had no keepers, water inside was terrible, fish outside were too small. We caught 6 trout (13-141/2”) and 4 redfish. Buddies limited out day before with 18-22” trout in the Marsh.
