Renting a camp in a few weeks on the north shore of pontchatrain near eden isle. The camp has a long pier that is lighted. Trying to get kids and other family members some fish, maybe some crabbing. Do you think the fishing will be decent from the pier? Or should I try and find a charter.

Close friends have a amp on the NS of Lake Pontchartrain and I have fished it a lot over the years. It’s like any other fishing. Some nights we fill an ice chest, some nights we catch a few and others...nothing. I can tell you with certainty, if the water is dirty, you won’t catch. And I have found that if you leave the lights on all night, bigger fish tend to show up between 2;30 or 3 until dawn.
I would book a guide just in case you have a windy week and the water is dirty. Good luck.
