I wanna go fishing on the Lake but I have no boat so are there any good spots on the shore to catch some reds and maybe flounder and specks? Mainly looking at the Southshore but any places on the Northshore would be great too. Also are they biting right now and what should I use out there? Thanks.

Friends of mine are catching limits of bass in the St. Charles Parish canal on worms and spinner baits...fishing the rocks and cuts.

SCPC is the large canal that runs between I-10 and lake Ponchartrain right there before the Loyola drive exit in Kenner. We launch at Williams Blvd by the Treasure Chest Casino and take about a 10 minute boat ride west to the canal entrance.

He was looking for shore access. Can you get to it w/o the boat?

There's a residential area right there, and I'm not sure how to access the path that runs along the levee. Also, not sure where to park, as I haven't back there since I was a kid on a bicycle. This is the map of the area:

Woodlake

Last weekend I saw a kid walking along the path by the rocks with fishing poles, so there's got to be a way.

yes there is a bike path to it along the shoreline from Williams boat launch.

you can fish the lake anywhere along the way there but its a very long walk to the parish line canal, something like maybe a good mile and a half to two miles I think.

Irish Bayou is a good area.....or was. Several factors are not on your side right now.
1) It's summer. The trout are further south
2)All the dredging that they have been doing has really messed the area up.
3)SO much rain. It has decreased the salinity and made the algae bloom sucking oxygen out of the water.
Tried it several times a few weeks ago when we really just needed to feel a tug. When you can't even get pinfish to bite live shrimp, there is a problem.
Try it in late September or later and it should improve.
