If you are outside the Levee Protection can you get flood insurance and if so is it sky high.
Same question for those of you inside the levee.
I think a lot of folks in the marinas just have wind and hail policies but without flood ins they must just own them outright.

I have 2 camps neither are insured
a houseboat in the wax lake area and a camp on matagorda peninsula in Texas. houseboat got leveled in Andrew and we rebuilt, lucky so far since then. it's just a matter of time, it's the bargain you make

My father just added the camp to his home owners insurance. For wind and fire, No flood insurance, Cost to much.

For flood you would have to be above the base flood elevation to even have a chance at coverage.

The wind insurance is what will rape you

Not to high jack, but if you could save 600$ a year going with National General as opposed to Progressive which I have, would you do it?
OP, we're above the flood gates and it ain't cheap even low balling it. Good luck.

I do property adjusting, but I don't know anything about those policies or those companies...

I don't have insurance on my camp but it ain't worth much so if it goes, it goes. we take the money we saved on premiums and build another.

Definitely. It is a double edged sword. You have to be elevated x amount to get coverage then the higher up you are the higher the wind/hail premium. I think our camp is close to $2k for like $50k coverage. It almost isn't worth it anymore if you outright own it.
