However derailing something that the entire recreational fishing population of the state is wanting badly and also is the larger tax paying/revenue paying part of the department, until he changes his stance on this I want him out immediately.

And if he doesn't change his stance, what are you going to do? Are you willing to sit out this upcoming hunting season? Or maybe not buy a fishing license?

Melancon knows he's not going to get fired and JBE knows rec fisherman votes don't matter to him. Even if every single recreation fisherman doesn't vote for him next election, he still loses nothing.

This. I agree cleaning up fraud is the right thing to do. However, that has nothing to do with the snapper issue. They are not related in anyway. Melancon is going to screw up years of fighting that had finally gained traction until he and JBE showed up.

Exactly. I've been saying this since the first rumblings that there was misappropriation or fraud in the department. It has nothing to do with Melancon's stance on snapper, and is being used as an excuse. We've seen this over and over, nothing but finger pointing at the last administration to explain why this one will continue to do the same shite.

Can the snapper bill pass without the support of the LWFC?

Anybody know how that works?

LWFC has absolutely nothing to do with the passing of legislation. They can be for or against something but it's up the the legislature to pass the bills.

Kinda what I figured. Then who gives a flip about Melancon's stance if he has no stroke with this?

He was appointed by the governor...

An extreme example would be JBE vetoing legislation on red snapper under the advisement of Melancon.

I think you confused him with his traitor brother Fredo.

JBE and Melancon can make like Luca Brasi and sleep with the fishes.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China, Charlie?

This is true but it underplays the effect his recommendation will have. Most of the people voting don't know the difference between a red snapper and a red corvette. Charlie's sales pitch will go a long way in affecting the vote.

Keep in mind this is a sales pitch by a former US congressman who has clout with buddies in DC.

You're exactly right. The fight for red snapper only matters to people who want to go fishing. There aren't enough of those people to swing a vote one way or the other. Ergo, if they frick over the rec guys and give the commercial fishery what they want they keep bother their job and the money from lobbiest.

As long as Charlie Melancon wants the red snapper fishery to be tilted in favor of the commercial fisherman, the fight is as good as lost. JBE will not fire him over it, and it's pleasurable any bills past by the legislator in favor of the recreational fishery will simply be vetoed.

You are absolutely unequivocally one hundred and seven percent correct ! He has surrounded himself with non biological felonious charged and convicted goons who will stop at nothing including harassment, intimidation and stalking to remove the people that he feels threatened by.
Yes there are audit findings as with every single agency when there is a change in administration. Standard practice. He too will be found guilty of the same when his time comes. It has nothing to do with A fish, deer, turtle or duck. It has everything to do with management of an agency that was once the premier state agency where everyone wanted to work

And let's not forget slams his hands on the desk, throws around his papers, calls sitting US Congreeman a liar and turns around and sends out a nonsensical email to the staff proclaiming his greatest.

It has everything to do with the money on hand and available to finance the cost associated with the administration of programs---such as red snapper. Why should DWLF have spent over a million on an airplane that's unusable ? Wait for it to come out. The waste and abuse has been unfathomable. Some have mentioned the unnecessary performance boats. That's the tip of the iceberg (unfortunately ). It will make you sick.

With a lot of respect to all of you, please research the issue on snapper. Why didn't Jindal take over red snapper---bc he couldn't. There is a high cost associated with doing so. Look at the DWLF budget---outside of BP money which was misappropriated , it's ALL self generated dollars. They get very little front the general budget. If it costs only 5 million to run the program, where does the money come from? Another agency ? If so, thats the legislature. Another program , if so which one. Millions that could have been used for it were wasted on airplanes, speed boats, women's clothes , office decorations and God knows what else.
