Electric Fence for dogs

I'm looking at possibly doing an electric fence for my two labs. I'm gone for work a lot and this would make things easier on Lady diesel. Ill be fencing in about a 700 ft perimeter. I'm looking for something that will be quality, not overly complicated, wont break the bank, and wont torture my dogs. Thanks

I have a pet smart system. Can't remember the model. Pieced it out on eBay and saved about $100. I have about 3 acres fenced. Bought the collar new in box, the control panel thing used, and ordered the wire separately. If the wire doesn't say "dog fence" it's about 25% cheaper.
Additional details. Blue heeler, installed with a trencher I rented. Some people use an edger, but a trencher works better and will definitely give you a better work out when installing 1700' or so.

I bought the Sportdog system with heavy duty wire off of Amazon, then rented an E-Z trencher from Home Depot to help install the wire. I have 3 acres at my house, so there was no way I was digging all that by hand. I recommend the trencher to make your life easier.
The system I bought has worked great I leave them outside no matter what and they never leave there area.
Btw I have two labs: one a 75# female and a 90# male. Both caught on quick.

I bought one and laid the wire around my fence and did not bury it. Shocked the shite out of my dog 3 times at three different spots. She doesn't go near the fence now and before she would get out 2-3 times a day if I didn't have her in her kennel. My yard is 2 acres with a fence all they way around but she would get under it. When you train yours crank it all the way up and shock them/it a few times they won't forget. I don't even think the fence is on right now but I keep the collar on her anyway. Good luck.

Pet Safe Wireless is good for up to an adjustable 180 ft diameter circle, 90 foot radius from the unit. Dog wears a color with the shock unit. It has 6 setttings and I use #3. It took me 3 days to train him with a leash to show him his boundaries and it has worked wonderfully. I even let him out without the collar and he stays within the circle, so to speak. I totaled about $250-$300 I recall.
BTW, Bruno is a Lab/Border Collie mix and is near 80 lbs.

i have petsafe around 12 acres
works great but the wire requires periodic maintenance
renting a ground saw is the easiest way to install...walk the saw which will make a clean 2" trench, place the wire, then rake over the backfill

This is what I did also. I used a #16 stranded wire, buy enough wire so you will not have any splices if you can. I will say my dog became more aggressive after we put in the underground fence and he learned the boundaries. This may not sound like a bad thing but the neighbors dogs or kids or UPS drivers do not know there is a fence and wander in.
