Anyone ever purchase and install their own iron or aluminum gate and opener? Advice on who to purchase from, difficulty, etc? Thanks.

I had one built and installed last year. It's 14ft with a solar powered opener. It has a Nice Brand Apollo opener. It came from King architectural metals. I will tell you that the small batteries they sell with them don't last. I swapped it out for a deep cycle marine battery and it's much stronger.

Avoid Mighty Mule if at all possible. Their control boards are dogshit and the electric motor is noisy and slow. They are a good cheap option only if you are capable of working on the circuit board.
