you might have moles in your yard. I had a beagle in my old house and he never dug anything. moved to a new house that had moles in the yard and couldn't get him to stop.

he may be bored......one thing that has always worked for me is to scoop up their own poop and put it in the hole. they don't like their own poop so they stay away from it.

Probably moles or boredome. If you want to get to where you don't worry about your beagle digging, get a Jack Russell. Your beagle holes will then look like nothing. You will however have a subterranean passage to China.

my beagle is 12 years old and never was a digger till this year. I'm not sure what will make them stop. I know that this is really common with beagles

Put iron concrete. Can't dig through that.

My Jack Russell mutt just started digging holes this year, but I think he is chasing after something else. What makes this kind of hole? Notice the small hole at the bottom. The pic was taken a month ago. the hole is now twice the size.

yea, hes on a runner during the day that covers a pretty big area, hes able to come under the patio, id hate to make him stay on the cement, he likes to wallow on filth, some of the holes are large enough that ive gotten the mower stuck a couple times... funny stuff

I've always heard that cayenne in the hole will stop them but didn't stop mine. He still digs a little from time to time to stay cool.

I haven't tried it, but what about a shock collar?
