Dog barking at birds

Ok guys I know there are a few upland hunters on here and I need some advice.
I have a two year old GSP of whom I got when she was about a year and a half. She never had any hunting training, but had some basic obedience stuff taught to her and was already introduced to the e collar.
Anyway, I got her and started putting birds out for her (quail), she never barked at any of them when I put them out, but also has not pointed one yet. She points all kind of random things, squirrels, lizards, all kinds of crazy shite, and has even pointed a couple of doves.
I noticed over the past few times of bringing her to the camp that she barks at shite birds all the time when running through rice and hay fields and also squirrels (she has always barked at squirrels). My point is what do I need to do about this? I don't exactly want her running through the woods and fields and just barking at everything that she sees. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Put a bark collar on her in your yard. Wouldn't use in field though. As for pointing birds, have you used a wing and a fishing rod? Get her pointing that before live birds. she may be blinking the live birds.

Tried the wing on a string method and she just thinks it's a game. As far as the bark collar in the yard, she doesn't bark at birds in the yard. Only in the field and only on shite birds....it's really weird.
Also just heard from another trainer that she is called a "screamer" and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Just confused as what to do if anything at all..

Is she finding the planted birds or just passing by them?

Finds them and then chases them. No barks at planted ones though

sounds like you need some checkcord work and whoa training. If she is finding the birds and chasing that is ok. Check out Delmar Smith books and articles.
