Couldn't make this up. Was trimming one back, youngest son found the seeds and picked them off, cracked one up and Tank ate it.

Has already thrown up 3 times. My vet is on his way back to town from vacation but won't make it back here till midnight. Says to make him vomit as much as possible until no signs of the seed where coming up then bring him in first thing in the morning.

I know it's very toxic to dogs and the seeds are the worse part. Hope this isn't the end for my best friend of 12yrs

My old boss just lost his two labs to sago palms. Hope it all works out. It's bad news for a pup.

I don't think a lot of people know how poisonous they are for dogs.

Find a syringe and give him hydrogrpen peroxide until he pukes nothing but clear. I've done on two different dogs for rat poison, it messed up the second dogs stomach for a dpfew months. he'd puke clear stuff up, but other than that no I'll affects. Hope he's not hurt.

Yep. I knew they were topic but the dogs have never show interest in them expect to piss on.

My son had no clue he would eat them and says he only saw him eat the one he cracked open. He didn't know they were toxic to dogs.

Already done the hydrogen peroxide once. He has vomitted a good bit, only one chunk of seed in last patch

Thanks for the good words guys

I had a dog eat rat poison and got the same advice from the vet...loaded him up with vegetable oil using a syringe and he was fine.

I am betting your pup is gonna be fine...you guys will just have a few miserable hours of worry.

Haven't heard vegetable oil before. Yeah he just got his second dose of hydrogen peroxide. Vomit is a thick white consistency now, no seed chunks

I saved my Golden Retriever after he ate two large pieces of rat poison. Poured hydrogen peroxide from the bottle directly down his throat. He vomited all of it up. He lived for another 8 years.

Prayers for your pup. I'm sure the peroxide will do the trick.

People, use charcoal. Any drug store has it in powder form. Just mix it with water. My daughter that is a Vet has treated 7 cases of sago palm so far this year. And yes, that shite will kill a dog in a heart beat. So, if you have a dog, DON'T plant sago palms.

Was unaware of powder form of charcoal. Hydrogen peroxide seemed to work fine.

Going to run him to the vet here in a minute

Had one in my backyard in the house I moved into last year. My girlfriend started bringing her golden around and I dug the whole thing up and threw it out. You'd be surprised how deep that main bulb goes into the ground - was a pain in the arse!

Just dropped the old boy off at the vet. He said the best thing I could have done was to make him vomit. Said he should be fine but to make sure wanted to give him a bag of antibiotics through an IV

VERY poisonous to dogs, cats and humans. My Easter weekend project is removing two from my front yard. Hate the things.

Just got update from the vet. Tank is still vomiting a pretty good bit. Vet wants to keep him over night on antibiotics and give him something for nausea.

Took X-rays just make sure there wasn't anything obstructing the intestines and it was all clear.

Why would he need antibiotics after eating a poisonous seed?

Presumably he is receiving the antibiotic metronidazole which is common for most any case of moderate to severe gastrointestinal disease. It has good anti inflammatory action in the gut
