I was just wondering if they tag the fish before they release them, and how many have been caught again? Catching 80+ 10 pounders a year seems like some might be caught twice.

I know a 16 was caught on Caddo a few years ago, turned in to their SAL program and was caught again the next year. She was definitely tagged... but I don't hear about it on Toledo.

The angler placed the big bass in the livewell, trailered his boat and headed over to Toledo Town and Tackle, where the fish tipped the scales at 11.91 pounds, with a 26-inch length and a 20¼-inch girth.

It had been previously tagged and enrolled in the Toledo Bend Lunker Bass Program in 2012, when it weighed 10.86 pounds and was taken by angler Red Chambers.

Not sure if they all get tagged but have heard of several others that have been caught with tags

Well there you go.

I just never noticed a story of one being caught at Toledo twice. I guess the 16 pounder at Caddo was a big deal since it broke the lake record.

Yeah they do. There have been several that were already tagged and release caught again.

Yep they tag them all and a less than 5% re-catch rate has been established over the life of the program so far.

Here's a story from Louisiana Sportsman. Guy caught an 11.91. Same fish was caught and tagged in 2012 as a 10.86. Figured they would put on more weight in 3 years.

IIRC the fish that won the big bass splash was caught earlier this year and weighed more.
