Why a climber?
Lock on with sticks is so much lighter, more versatile, compact, quiet, safer, etc etc

In addition a friend’s dad had the cable come out when he was climbing down
I call BS on this one.
The only way the cable on a Summit will come out is if it was never locked into place to begin with.
If a cable was SEVERELY mistreated/rusted and broke maybe , but I have put them through hell and never remotely had one give way. When they start looking a bit worn I just spend $40 and buy replacement cables, just like I did this season. My life/health is worth $40 every 3-5 years....not that it's worth much more than that
As for Summit's slipping all it takes is a grinder to the teeth to sharpen them a touch and your GTG. Of course there are a few tree types that are problematic, especially if damp/wet. One type of hardwood/oak I climb occassionally but hate doing so is something we call "Ironwood". Hard as concrete and doesn't like holding well, especially if the least bit wet. But the typical white oaks, poplars and gum trees I climb a Summit is absolutely no issue. (And at 240 lbs I ain't exactly a lightweight )

I refuse to climb a hackberry with any climber.

He climbed up the tree without adjusting the stand. Then the cable came loose on the descend. You tell me how this is possible to make the climb up the tree without any issues. Then his son inspected the stand and everything looked ok. No worries offense man but there is no way I’m trusting that stand without knowing a reason the cable came loose.

Lone Wolf
I had one of those. You can’t angle it enough for the tree tapering. In my opinion junk. Yes they are quiet and easy to pack but that’s it.
I had a friend that told me he would use the stabilizer straps to pull the bottom up to him in the dark to adjust the bottom to level out with the tree while up 25 feet. To hell with that.
TREEWALKER is the best climber ever made.

I bought a lone wolf. Sold it after second climb. I was scared to death the entire time I was in it.
