They are fixing up bonaventures now. It's supposed to open back up this summer but they still have a lot of work to do

Not sure if true, but someone told me they sold to a company who was going to build some condos, then after the sale found out they had been dumping stuff behind the restuarant for 40 years and was going to have to do extensive dirt work in order to build. Hence why it's just sitting there

Man does that place bring back some memories. The old bass mounts with the tails and fins all broken off, the hand carved cypress sign over the door, the burgers (yes they were great), the rail thin black fella that worked the bait shop and the smell of the cricket houses inside, and the ever present fat black ladies sitting on the dock in front of the entrance door fishing with cane poles and black cotton line.

as far as the dumping that was certainly true so I would say what you heard is plausible.

They're not even in business any more. The place was falling down last time I passed False River.
I know. That's why I said "used." We have a camp about 15 camps towards where the lillypads used to be. Some doctors purchased that property and wanted to build some condos but couldn't get the permits. ETA: Already addressed.

They sold it back to the original owners. I !@#$ing hate having to drive to LA Express to launch the boat.
