Personally - I don't like to climb but is sometimes necessary to do this to get in a good area. Think about the Summit and Ole Man stands. They are great climbers and fairly user friendly.

and never leave the ground without being tethered to the tree.

I have a Summit Viper classic and I can sit a long time in it. Very comfortable and easy to get up tree because you sit on the top rail and pull the bottom platform up to you with your legs while climbing.
They make several that are much lighter now.

And yes, always use the aggravating harness. I almost fell out one time but thankfully I was tethered. It reassured me to never screw with gravity because there is this temptation that I dont need the harness while climbing.

Now do you want a tree climber or a tree stand?

Ole Man

That's what I use. It is several years old and I probably need to check the cables out before taking it to the woods this year.

Once it's locked in, it's like sitting in a cross between a recliner and a hammock. Sleeps really good too.

Summit viper for me. I like it. I got the one with the lighter frame (aluminum i think). It was a little more for it than the heavier one, but easier on the back while carrying through the woods.

Mine is about the same age, but I noticed this year that the bottoms of the metal tubes are busting out and this may be her last year.
It looks similar to this:
