Delayed background check?

Just tried to purchase a shotgun and got the “delayed” response from the check. My record is squeaky clean and there should be no issues. She mentioned a new system started yesterday. Could that be the reason for the delay?

I don’t think anyone actually knows what causes a delay. It’s all speculation.

Just got a call that it was cleared. Delayed for about two hours

I've bought dozens of guns over my lifetime and never got a delay until June. Got passed 2 days later

I got delayed recently. It was about two weeks after I wasn't delayed on a different gun. My buddy that owns a gun shop told me that since the COVID-19 crap he has seen all kind of delays. He said he was pretty sure it had something to do with the increase in sales and the government being understaffed.

Happens every third time for me. But I'd like to think I have lived a somewhat interesting life.
Seriously, something changed a few years ago and my delays only last about 10 minutes now.

Picked up a new rifle today no delay.

Also picked up a new shotgun today and got delayed. Was really disappointed because I wanted to use the gun for squirrel opener in the morning but it got cleared like an hour later so ended up being good to go

They can only delay it for a few days, then they can give you the gun
