The lift pump in the tank pushes fuel (in this case urea) through the low pressure pump bypass into the high pressure pump. All of that must be replaced.

Either way, it is an extremely involved job and you don't want it done anywhere but a dealership. It's a big job.

I did the same thing back in 2014 to my 2013 F250. Luckily I caught myself before i put maybe more than a cup or two in. I didn't start it, I didnt even open the door. I spent the whole afternoon dropping and cleaning the fuel tank though. Luckily all of this went down in my driveway. Keep the truck 2 more years with no issues.

On some current models of Kenworth class 8 trucks, the DEF tank is on the passenger side of the truck. A lot of drivers bitch t hat they often have to fill the diesel tank and then they have to pull around to fill the DEF tank. It's been speculated that Kenworth designed it like that purposely to help remind a driver to put the correct pump into the correct tank.

They never came on till after I changed the fuel filter under the truck.
Kenworth knows what they are doing. I think on chevy and GMC it is under the hood.

Drove from Houston to BR in 2011 and picked up bad gas on the way in Rayne. 5.7 Tundra motor blew up as we were crossing Atchafalaya. Allstate homeowners paid 16K to fix because we were out of town? I didn't question.BR Toyota dealer said water in gas caused it.
Had a field supt pour def in fuel on a new F350 this year and ran it. Cost us $12,000.
