Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and this God given weather.
I just recently moved. My yard backs up to some DMAP property, and have seen a few deer during the days and early morning strolling through.
Anyways, I would like to put up a feeder about 50-60 yards behind my house, just to enjoy being able to watch them.
During deer season I put out a camera and a sack of corn every week or two about 120 yards behind my house, just for the hell of it.
I was not able to see them since it turns into thicket after about 60-70 yards.
They would burn through a sack in less than a week. Just mostly does and occasionally a few small bucks. Most of pictures were 5-8 in the morning and 3-5 in evening. Which makes thing they aren't concerned with the construction and noise being so close to the houses.
I'm trying to set up the feeder so I can watch from my back porch in morning while drinking coffee, or in the evening while I'm sipping on my whiskey.
Where I want to put the feeder will be in plain sight from my back porch.(50-60 yards.
Few questions: Do y'all think it being this close to house they would be to skiddish to feed early morning/early evenings hours before dark? Or due to distance from house they would only touch it late night or early morning?
As I said earlier, when I had the feed and camera an extra 20 yards into the woods, they would be there mornings, afternoon, etc.
Just not sure if it being in view of the house if they wouldn't even bother with it, or they would get comfortable with it. Or just feed at night.
On another note: I have a moultrie hog feeder light. If I mounted it to feeder, would it even phase the deer? In case I wanted to watch at night as well? How sensitive are they to the light? As I thought they cannot pick up the green light. Should I set it to motion only? Or set it for dusk to dawn?
Just for the record I am not trying to shoot any deer at night! Just sad the season is over, and have always enjoyed watching deer. Almost more than shooting them!

TIA.

I was at a place recently where the deer come in every night. Guy had an automatic motion light on the feeder. It would come on so you could watch the deer at night. This was 30'-50' from where we were sitting around the fire pit laughing, and cooking. It was pretty cool. Fwiw I hope that helps.

Like passing said it'll work. I set one up at my enlaws' place. Feeder is 20 paces from the steps of their back deck. They know they are safe there and we can sit on the deck and drink coffee and watch them feed at all times of the day and night.

We do hunt the property, the nearest stand is 150 or so yards away. Amazing how they know they can relax around the house but not a 3 minute walk down the ridge

It won't be to close, I've seen deer near run across a 1000 acre limestone yard. I've also seen them on a levee 200' from where some welders were gauging. They'll get use to the noise and will be there daily.
