If only Mrs. House knew how cool they were maybe we would be getting one of these instead of a new house.

Im assuming that this area will not move until the river comes back up and moves the water, or is this always here and the river has nothing to do with it?

Just to clarify, the dead zone corresponds with the high river. Agricultural runoff from the midwest loads the river with nutrients. The river dumps those into warm waters of the gulf and algal blooms form. Algae dies, sinks, decomposes, and removes oxygen from the water. Dead zone forms.

Nope. Not yet. Have a great down payment saved up that could buy a really nice boat though...

We are still looking. Primarily in Ascension Parish. I have talked the wife out of Brusly. She is still considering Zachary though.

Man, I know this situation. We refinanced and pulled money to put on a new roof and do some other work on the house and the cash sat in a special account for about four months. I mentioned using the money for a new boat and the wife almost pulled a knife and cut my throat.

I am against it also.

Some diplomacy is necessary though to keep the peace.

We are always so topical:

The Morning News

I DO believe it is one of the reasons why sometimes in the summer two rigs within a couple of miles of one another at similar depths can have such a radically different fish population, and those two can vary from week to week. As someone who has studied this issue fairly extensively, it should be pointed out that Louisiana's contribution is tiny compared to what comes into the state from upriver sources. And one of the other major environmental farces of our times (and there are many) is to blame for a lot of it. The rush to squeeze corn into fuel has caused a lot of marginal land to be planted in corn, which in turn, needs a lot more fertilizer, which in turn, means a lot more runoff of nutrients. Good for CF and other fertilizer producers, bad overall for the environment. Also less land in the CRP, which impacts waterfowl. This ethanol BS needs to go the way of whale oil and coal tar pitch as a fuel.
