Spent a few hours at the local range testing out some .223 handloads as well as working on a system to collect data for each rifle and various factory loads. More concerned with velocity and accuracy data for the .223 loads than I am with the .308 stuff for my GSR at the moment. Target was setup about 30yds away and using my 16" rifle build with the EOTech.

Test loads were:

Hornady .223 brass, FLR, trimmed 1.750"
CCI #450 primers
Varget at 25.0, 25.5, and 26.0 gr
Xtreme Bullets 55gr FMJ loaded 2.220" COAL
Lee Factory Crimp die

Each set is based on 10-shot strings.

Velocity (fps)
25.0 gr
Min 2572
Max 2708
Avg 2618.3
S.D. 42.6

25.5 gr
Min 2715
Max 2781
Avg 2742.3
S.D. 24.0

26.0 gr
Min 2816
Max 2902
Avg 2843.4
S.D. 24.2

For comparison: Lake City M855
Min 2924
Max 2979
Avg 2943.5
S.D. 15.0

Bottom left target was a 20 shot warm up set for the rifle and to make sure I wouldn't shoot the chrony. Bottom right and diagonally to upper left are the test loads in order above. Last upper right was a last group of M855.
