quote:yes and diesel was under a dollar a gallon. The last year I crawfished it was over $3.00. Bait doubled, and so on.
quote: frick those guys for paying for gas, diesel, bait, sacks, labor and expecting to make a profit. Don't forget insurance, wear and tear on gear, lease payments, mortgages, property tax and etc. Basically a 350% increase since the old $.89/lb days.
If those of you that keep bitching about the price can't afford it, then eat something you can afford. Cheap bastards...

Lol, we had $1000 worth of live crawfish just a week or two ago for a family gathering.
Doesn't mean I don't wanna bitch about the price of it.

I hear ya. I crawfished 4 years. It's back breaking work. I had no tractor. Every levee was fixed with a shovel, every ramp and every hole.
There's money to be made if you are willing to put in the work, unfortunately in today's society most aren't willing to do it.
In the end, it's a delicacy and people have to pay for that.
Funny think is after all the free crawfish I have eaten over the years I don't even crave it anymore.

I paid $3.25/lb last week in Ft. Walton Beach and didn't blink.
$2.75/lb is cheap!
